Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

An intriguing story linking London and Paris, long before travel for the maases.

This is a clever story which portrays all class levels, crimes and punishments, good use of main characters along with an intricate weave of story line.

Though the book could be shortened, it to me is the right length, taking the reader on a journey that crosses the English Channel, back and forth numerous times, the last quote in the book will be very familiar to more people than have ever read this book. One of the best written endings to a storey than I have ever read before.

This storey could travel in time, and one day a modern day film could successfully be adapted.

Awarded 5 stars by me on the Kindle review.

Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens

Having grown up on the musical starring Mark Lester and Jack Wild the book had little appeal originally.

Following a mini series on TV that was truer to the book sparked a fresh interest, it depicted a darker side to Olivers plight.

All the main characters in the book were of the same ilk however the book was very good in how the end was a culmination of all the characters influences throughout Olivers life.

How I rate the charcters

  • Oliver Twist  Nieve
  • The Artful Dodger A lovable rouge
  • Mr Bumble Sly and conniving
  • Fagin  A puppet master who was timid around his piers
  • Bill Sykes Nasty bit of work
  • Nancy A working girl who fell for the wrong bloke
